Traditionally, at death, the family "bursts forth" into dirge and cries. The individual's ornaments are removed and replaced by rings and wreaths of Dracaena leaves, so that he can enter the underworld without feeling shame.the spirit transverses a treeless plain, Morongo, which separates the land of the living from the underworld ..

Note the Dracaena plant as a mark of ceremonial death. The Dracaena is also considered a forgiveness plant. When burying the dead, one must renounce all grudges, and all debts must be settled. Ironically, you probably recognize the Dracaena as the house plant at your office. Remember - it is the forgiveness plant!
